Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria in Marine Mammals of the Salish Sea

WMMSN is currently working alongside several partners on a project to study the presence of antibiotic resistant bacteria in marine mammals in the Pacific Northwest. Along with Cascadia Research, Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife, World Vets, Central Puget Sound Marine Mammal Stranding Network, and San Juan Island Stranding Network, we are collecting samples from deceased harbor seals and harbor porpoises to identify the presence and possible sources of antibiotic resistant bacteria.
